// Liner notes
The 2001 edition that added "Carousel," the song "Human Nature" replaced, and Jackson's 1981 home demo of "Billie Jean."
Released October 16, 2001 via Epic, this is the 2001 Special Edition of Thriller, the best-selling album of all time, in the Bernie Grundman remaster, pressed on a gold disc and packaged in an embossed gold-lettered O-card slipcover with a 16-page booklet of lyrics, credits and photos.
The original nine songs, produced by Quincy Jones and engineered by Bruce Swedien: "Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'," "The Girl Is Mine" with Paul McCartney, "Thriller" with Vincent Price's rap, "Beat It" with Eddie Van Halen's solo, "Billie Jean," "Human Nature" and "P.Y.T." among them.
The Special Edition adds twelve bonus tracks: "Someone in the Dark," first recorded for the E.T. storybook album, the previously unreleased "Carousel," the "Billie Jean" home demo, the Vincent Price voice-over session, and a run of interviews with Quincy Jones and Rod Temperton telling the making-of story in their own voices.
