// Liner notes
Narrated by Tyler's mother, built around an unplanned pregnancy, and there is no baby.
Released October 28, 2024 via Columbia, CHROMAKOPIA is Tyler, the Creator writing, producing and arranging his eighth album almost entirely alone, and stacking it for arenas. Military cadences march through it. "Sticky" erupts with an anarchic choir, Clipse-style drums and horns lifted from Young Buck's "Get Buck." "Noid" builds on "Nizakupanga Ngozi," a 1977 Zamrock track by the Ngozi Family, and "Judge Judy" sounds like a Burt Bacharach record left out in the sun to warp.
His mother, Bonita Smith, works as a Greek chorus, opening the album and delivering a raw confession of her own on "Like Him," a song about the father Tyler never knew and the fear of becoming him. Fame, paranoia and fatherhood circle a man of 33 who still raps with a hungry kid's appetite. Doechii, Lil Wayne and Lola Young are among the guests, and Playboi Carti appears on the physical editions only. It debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 299,000 units in a partial first week, won the Grammy for Best Album Cover and was nominated for Album of the Year and Best Rap Album.
This is the 2025 opaque white edition on 2x12" vinyl, new and sealed.
