// Liner notes
The last chapter of the trilogy that began with After Hours, and the biggest opening week of The Weeknd's career.
Released January 31, 2025 via XO and Republic, Hurry Up Tomorrow is Abel Tesfaye writing the ending for the persona he has worn for over a decade, closing the run of After Hours and Dawn FM. He recorded it between 2020 and January 2025 at Conway and MXM in Los Angeles and Jungle City in New York, with Mike Dean, Giorgio Moroder, Metro Boomin, Max Martin, Oneohtrix Point Never and Cirkut at the boards. The result is moody synth-pop with stranger things in the margins. "São Paulo" with Anitta throws him into Brazilian funk, "Timeless" with Playboi Carti hits like an arena rap single, and "The Abyss" pulls Lana Del Rey down into the dark with him.
It plays as a pop star auditing the damage. "Cry for Me" and "Open Hearts" swim in confession, "Take Me Back to LA" aches for a city he can't return to, and "Red Terror" closes the book. The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 490,500 units, his fifth No. 1 and the largest first week of his career, and a companion feature film directed by Trey Edward Shults followed through Lionsgate.
This is the 2025 first-pressing LP on 12" black vinyl: a condensed eleven-track cut of about forty-one minutes, half the length of the full 84-minute album.
