// Liner notes
The first Rolling Stones album without Bill Wyman, and the first record ever to win the Grammy for Best Rock Album.
Released 11 July 1994 via Virgin, Voodoo Lounge is the Rolling Stones' first album for the label and their first with Don Was producing alongside Mick Jagger and Keith Richards. The band cut it in late 1993 at Ronnie Wood's house in Ireland and at Windmill Lane in Dublin, with Darryl Jones on bass as a hired player in Wyman's place, then finished it in Los Angeles and New York.
"Love Is Strong," "You Got Me Rocking" and "Out of Tears" led the singles. The album went to No. 1 in the UK and No. 2 in the US, held off the top only by The Lion King soundtrack, and went double platinum in America. The Voodoo Lounge Tour that followed played 124 shows to 6.3 million people and grossed $320 million, the most successful rock tour to that date.
