// Liner notes
Alex Turner and Miles Kane back together eight years after their debut, and straight to No. 1 in the UK.
Released April 1, 2016 via Domino, Everything You've Come To Expect is The Last Shadow Puppets' second album, eight years after The Age of the Understatement. Turner and Kane cut it at Shangri-La in Malibu with James Ford producing and playing drums, Owen Pallett writing the string arrangements and Zach Dawes of Mini Mansions on bass.
The arrangements are slower and more restrained than on the debut. "Aviation" opens on a mournful guitar figure under low strings, "Bad Habits" is the album's snarling centre, Turner and Kane barking over Pallett's frantic violins, "Miracle Aligner" glides on Pet Sounds-style harmonies, and "Sweet Dreams, TN" is a fifties waltz with Turner crooning like Elvis in Vegas. "The Dream Synopsis" closes the record on a bed of strings. Domino's own pitch called it "soaring, snarling and breathlessly seductive," and it went straight to No. 1 in the UK.
LP, new and sealed.
