The Slow Rush

Released February 14, 2020 via Modular. This is the 2x12" 180g black vinyl edition. Parker produced it himself, recording between Los Angeles and his home studio in Fremantle, Western Australia.

The Slow Rush is Parker's deep dive into the oceans of time, conjuring the feeling of a lifetime in a lightning bolt, of major milestones whizzing by while you're looking at your phone. It's a paean to creation and destruction and the unending cycle of life. "A lot of the songs carry this idea of time passing, of seeing your life flash before your eyes, being able to see clearly your life from this point onwards," Parker told the New York Times. "I'm being swept by this notion of time passing. There's something really intoxicating about it." The cover, made with photographer Neil Krug, shows a symbol of humanity all but swallowed whole by the surrounding environment, as though in the blink of an eye.

"Borderline" arrived ten months ahead of the album, followed by "It Might Be Time," "Posthumous Forgiveness" and "Lost in Yesterday," with "Breathe Deeper" and "Is It True" after release. The album went to No. 1 in Australia and No. 3 on the Billboard 200, won five ARIA Awards including Album of the Year, and earned Grammy nominations for Best Alternative Music Album and Best Rock Song for "Lost in Yesterday."
