// Liner notes
Thirty-one years after release, it climbed into the top 10 of Billboard's Top R&B Albums chart for the first time, in February 2026.
Released 31 October 1994 via Epic in the UK, with the US release following on 4 November, The Best of Sade gathers a decade of the band named after its singer, Sade Adu, from Diamond Life to Love Deluxe. Sixteen tracks, with "Smooth Operator," "Your Love Is King," "The Sweetest Taboo," "Paradise" and "No Ordinary Love" among them.
Several of the singles appear as edits and remixes, none of them identified on the packaging, and the set adds "Please Send Me Someone to Love," the Percy Mayfield song Sade cut for the Philadelphia soundtrack, alongside album tracks "Jezebel," "Like a Tattoo" and "Pearls." It reached No. 9 on the Billboard 200 and No. 6 in the UK, went four times platinum in the US, and in 2026 it led Billboard's Jazz Albums chart.
