// Liner notes
David Carradine's Bill, kept to a voice and a pair of hands through Volume 1, finally takes the floor.
Released 16 April 2004 by Miramax, Kill Bill: Volume 2 finishes the story Volume 1 started. The Bride survives a live burial in a Texas graveyard, trains under the cruel master Pai Mei in flashback, and follows the road south to Bill, played by David Carradine in the role that redefined his late career.
Tarantino slows the tempo and lets the dialogue carry the weight, from Bill's monologue on Superman to the confrontation over a daughter the Bride never knew survived. Ennio Morricone cues and Mexican desert light pull it toward Sergio Leone, and the fights get shorter and nastier. Carradine earned a Golden Globe nomination for the role, and Thurman her second for the Bride.
