Released August 23, 1994 via Columbia: Jeff Buckley's only completed studio album, recorded at Bearsville Studios in Woodstock with producer Andy Wallace and a small band of New York players. Ten tracks moving between original songwriting, traditional carols, and reinventions of Leonard Cohen and Nina Simone material. A vocal range few singers in any era have matched.

The album sold modestly on release. After Buckley drowned in the Wolf River Harbor at thirty in May 1997, Grace took on a different shape: the definitive recording of "Hallelujah," the singular catalog entry from a singer whose influence on Radiohead, Coldplay, Damien Rice, and a generation of post-1994 alt-rock vocalists is impossible to overstate. "Mojo Pin," "Last Goodbye," "Lover, You Should've Come Over," and the title track sit alongside the covers as the foundational text of mid-90s alt-rock songcraft.

Now part of every "greatest debuts" canon worth taking seriously, and a fixture on any serious vinyl shelf.
