// Liner notes
Four US No. 1 singles from one album, something no other British male solo artist has done.
Released October 30, 1987 via Columbia in the US and Epic in the UK, Faith is George Michael writing and producing almost every track himself, recorded mostly at Puk Studios near Randers in Denmark and finished at Sarm West in London. It is pop wired to R&B, funk and soul. "Faith" opens on church organ before a Bo Diddley guitar shuffle takes over, "Father Figure" slow-burns like gospel in the dark, "I Want Your Sex" pulses on minimal funk, "Monkey" snaps on drum machines, and "Kissing a Fool" closes as a smoky jazz ballad.
This is the record where George Michael left Wham!'s teen pop behind and wrote for adults. "Faith," "Father Figure," "One More Try" and "Monkey" all went to No. 1 on the Hot 100, and it became the first album by a white solo artist to top Billboard's Top Black Albums chart. It won Album of the Year at the 1989 Grammys and has sold more than 25 million copies.
CD album, graded Near Mint, unsealed.
