CAPRISONGS

Released January 14, 2022 via Young and Atlantic, CAPRISONGS is FKA twigs throwing the doors open after the dark ceremony of Magdalene. She pieced it together across 2020 and 2021, largely through remote sessions, and co-executive produced it with El Guincho, with Arca, Cirkut and Mike Dean also at the controls. It is the closest to pop she had come. "tears in the club" sweats out heartbreak on the dancefloor with The Weeknd, "jealousy" slow-winds into dancehall and Afrobeats with Rema, "pamplemousse" fizzes as chemical hyperpop in the lineage of Charli XCX and SOPHIE, and "meta angel" stacks her voice into tiny choirs.

Her friends' chatter runs between the tracks, and "oh my love" ends on a pep talk telling her to stop crying over boys who don't deserve it. It's a party record about learning to be held. Critics agreed: Rolling Stone ranked it No. 8 of 2022, and Pitchfork, The Quietus and NPR Music put it on their year-end lists. It scored 80 on Metacritic and reached No. 1 on Billboard's Top Dance Albums.

Seventeen tracks on LP.
