The Rise And Fall Of A Midwest Princess [2LP Popstar Coke Bottle Clear Edition]

Released September 22, 2023 via Amusement and Island Records, The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess is a drag show staged inside a diary. Chappell Roan and producer Dan Nigro build each song around a joke and a wound and make you dance through both, over glittering synths and drums that stomp like a gay-bar floor at 2 a.m. The choruses arrive enormous, built to be screamed back from the floor. "Femininomenon" opens the record and swerves into a spoken-word bridge that plays like a pep talk from your most chaotic friend. "HOT TO GO!" spells itself out like a stadium cheer, and "Casual" slows everything into a ballad about being someone's almost. "Pink Pony Club," the 2020 single that cost her the Atlantic deal, returns here as a victory lap.

The record took a year to catch. When it did, it caught everything: No. 2 on the Billboard 200, nominations for Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album, and a camp sensibility pop had been too careful to try at this scale.

This is the Popstar Edition, released August 2, 2024: limited Coke Bottle Clear 2LP, including a single-sided LP, in a gatefold jacket. Each disc catches the light its own way, so your copy won't match the photo exactly.
